The lions are facing opposite directions with their tails intertwined between them. The bodies of the lions are carved in mid-relief with enough detail to mark their manes and bodies. Each of the lions between the two supports have a figure kneeling underneath them; the northwestern lion is holding a boy, the northeastern lion is holding a goat, the southwestern lion is holding an upside down kneeling figure, and the southeastern lion is standing over a figure with a mask-like human head. The choice of using lions for the supports seems to have been inspired by a Siculo-Norman art style. The Sicilian elements can be seen in the long curling manes and the protruding chests. Despite his status as the Emperor of the Holy Roman Emperor, Frederick chose to embrace the elements of Sicilian and Norman art which were popular at the time.<br \/>\nModern Province: (PA) Palermo<br \/>\nModern Town: Palermo<\/p>\n"},"caption":{"rendered":"<p>Sarcophagus Support with Stylized Lions<\/p>\n"},"alt_text":"","media_type":"image","mime_type":"image\/jpeg","media_details":{"width":600,"height":450,"file":"2013\/04\/P8070026.jpg","sizes":{"thumbnail":{"file":"P8070026-150x150.jpg","width":150,"height":150,"mime_type":"image\/jpeg","source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026-150x150.jpg"},"medium":{"file":"P8070026-300x225.jpg","width":300,"height":225,"mime_type":"image\/jpeg","source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026-300x225.jpg"},"slider-thumb":{"file":"P8070026-600x395.jpg","width":600,"height":395,"mime_type":"image\/jpeg","source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026-600x395.jpg"},"blog-thumb":{"file":"P8070026-600x300.jpg","width":600,"height":300,"mime_type":"image\/jpeg","source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026-600x300.jpg"},"teaser-thumb":{"file":"P8070026-332x205.jpg","width":332,"height":205,"mime_type":"image\/jpeg","source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026-332x205.jpg"},"gallery-1-thumb":{"file":"P8070026-432x432.jpg","width":432,"height":432,"mime_type":"image\/jpeg","source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026-432x432.jpg"},"gallery-2-thumb":{"file":"P8070026-268x268.jpg","width":268,"height":268,"mime_type":"image\/jpeg","source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026-268x268.jpg"},"gallery-3-thumb":{"file":"P8070026-268x164.jpg","width":268,"height":164,"mime_type":"image\/jpeg","source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026-268x164.jpg"},"video-thumb":{"file":"P8070026-600x393.jpg","width":600,"height":393,"mime_type":"image\/jpeg","source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026-600x393.jpg"},"full":{"file":"P8070026.jpg","width":600,"height":450,"mime_type":"image\/jpeg","source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026.jpg"}},"image_meta":{"aperture":3.2,"credit":"","camera":"C5060WZ","caption":"","created_timestamp":1218108550,"copyright":"","focal_length":"8.7","iso":"100","shutter_speed":"0.025","title":"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA"}},"post":632,"source_url":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/P8070026.jpg","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/935"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/attachment"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.envisioningnormansicily.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=935"}]}}
