A major tactical feature of this castle is the building&#8217;s view of the surrounding area. In 1282 CE, some French living in Sicily fled to this castle during the Sicilian Vespers. This was one of only two locations where the French protected themselves from the massacring of French people at the hands of the Sicilians.
