Through the transparent doorway, one is gifted with the sight of the Aegadian Islands.  The Aegadian Islands represent an all important passage to ancient antiquity.  In some references, the Aegadian Islands may be referred under the name Aegates, the Latin form.  There are five islands in total to which spawn from Marsala and Trapani.  After the fall of the Roman Empire, the islands and its neighboring territories would face various spheres of influences, but would once again become strengthened and united under Norman rule.  To look upon the actual fortified structure of the Norman castle doorway, notice the slit adjacent to the doorway for archery mobilization.
